NASA wants you to become the engineers, scientists, researchers and innovators of tomorrow. High School Aerospace Scholars offers a one-of-a-kind experience for Texas high school students like you to jump start your future and explore the possibilities of a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related major or career. Learn more about the program by viewing "High School Aerospace Scholars: A Journey of Discovery." Your adventure starts in this fall with an online course and culminates – for students who earn the opportunity – with an on-site summer experience at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Applicants must be:


  • U.S. citizens
  • Texas high school juniors
  • Interested and excited about STEM
  • Committed to a one-year relationship with NASA; and
  • Able to access the internet and email (at home, school or public library)

During the school year you'll have the opportunity to participate in:

  • Interactive lessons on NASA activities related to space exploration, Earth science, technology and aeronautics
  • Design challenges such as building 3D CAD modules, creating videos and designing interactive posters
  • Virtual chats with NASA engineers and scientists

Students who score high enough during the online segment will be invited to NASA for a week of:

  • Briefings by NASA engineers and scientists
  • Team projects directed by NASA engineers and scientists
  • Hands-on engineering activities
  • Tours of NASA facilities
